This Langtang trek combines the unspoiled and remote Langtang Valley. Starting at the Sherpa village of Syabrubesi on the edge of the Langtang National Park, you climb through beautiful thick oak and rhododendron forests up to Langtang village. Home to Himalayan black bear, the goat-like Himalayan tahr, rhesus monkeys and red pandas, there are even stories of Yeti sightings here! At Kyangjing Gompa you get close up views of Langtang Lirung (7246m) and other mountains that separate Nepal from Tibet.

27th May: Arrival in Kathmandu

Assistance upon Arrival and transfer to hotel. Overnight Hotel with Breakfast.
Arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport(TIA) in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal which is a historically diverse ancient city with breathtaking art and architecture, monuments, cultural heritage, centuries-old Hindu and Buddhist religious sites as well as inspiring UNESCO World Heritage sites. The first day of the tour is simply an arrival day with no pre-organized activities. Our Young Tourism Professionals (YTPs) at the Hospitality Desk at TIA will welcome and assist you for the transfer to your hotel. Eve: Enjoy a hot shower and some rest in the comforts of your room.

28th May: Free Day in Kathmandu

Overnight at Hotel in Kathmandu.
The morning is free to unwind from your long haul flight and also to run through your gears and equipment for the trek ahead. In the afternoon, enjoy a half day sightseeing tour of the ancient Kathmandu city with its countless temples, palaces, courtyards and pagodas. Visit the Hanumandhoka square, Temple of the Living Goddess Kumari and visit Swayambhunath Stupa also known as the Monkey Temple situated atop a hill overlooking the Kathmandu valley below. Eve: Return back to the hotel for the much deserved hot shower and some rest before dining out.

29th May: Drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubeshi

Overnight local Lodge.
The road trip up to Syabrubeshi offers some spectacular views of Ganesh Himal, Langtang Ri, Langtang Lirung, Naya Kangma, Dorje Lakpa and various other mountains. It can be a rough and rocky ride, but as you climb, the mountains of the Langtang region become closer and bigger unfolding awe-inspiring views as you close in into the mountains.

30th May: Trek to Lama Hotel

Overnight local Tea House.
The trail from Syabrubesi to Lama Hotel (the name of the village, not the name of the lodge) follows the Langtang Khola and is very scenic. You walk through the dense forest where you might see wild boar, Langur monkeys, Red Pandas or even Himalayan black bears. After crossing a bridge over the Langtang Khola you climb a steep trail to Lama Hotel.

31st May: Trek to Langtang Village

Overnight local Tea House.
Continuing up from Lama Hotel you can start to enjoy the mountain landscape, accompanied by the sound of water as you pass many waterfalls. As you reach the green meadows of Ghoda Tabela (‘horse stable’), you start to see the white peaks of the Langtang range. Your trail climbs up the widening valley and passes a few temporary settlements used by herders. Passing a Buddhist monastery, you reach Langtang village

1st June: Trek to Kyanjin Gompa

Overnight at local Tea House.
Continuing to Kyangjin Gompa, this is a principal monastery in the region. You pass by water mills, prayer wheels, chortens, and mounds of rocks with holy inscriptions carved on them. You pass the largest mani wall in Nepal. This is made of stone with prayers written on them. You have time to explore the Buddhist shrine in Kyangjin Gompa and surrounding areas.
Here, you may enjoy the locally produced “Yak Cheese” which was introduced by Swiss Technology over 4 decades ago!

2nd June: Excursion to Langtang Ri

Overnight at local Tea House.
This mountain separates Nepal from Tibet and is part of a series of high peaks including Shishapangma Mountain (8013m) and Porong Ri Peak (7292m). It was climbed for the first time by a Japanese expedition team in 1981 and since then is a popular climbing peak. From Kyanjin Gompa Monastery you can hike to Kyanjin Ri to admire the views Langtang Lirung I (7246m), Langtang Lirung II (6581m) and Nayakhanga (5846m). The view of Lirung Tsang Glacier, one the biggest glaciers in the Langtang range is impressive.

3rd June: Back track to Lama Hotel

Overnight Basic Tea House.
Retracing your steps to Lama Hotel, most of the day is downhill through forests and Tamang villages.

4th June: Trek to Syabrubeshi

Overnight at local lodge.
From Lama Hotel the trail descends through Rimche to Bamboo Lodge and Pairo Lodge alongside the Langtang river through the forest, crossing the river to Syabrubeshi town (2087m – 5 hrs). Overnight stay at the local lodge.

5th June: Drive back to Kathmandu

Overnight at hotel.
The adventurous road from Syabru Besi on the western edge of Langtang National Park improves as you head south towards Kathmandu.

  • Jeep Transfer to Syabru Besi (4 persons per jeep) and back to Kathmandu

  • Expenses of personal nature such as; bar bills, laundry, mineral waters, hot water showers while on trek, expenses to charge electronic devices while on trek, internet facilities while on trek.
  • Any other services not mentioned in the above itinerary.
